We've moved

We are now living and working in Luton.

Construction is about to start on a studio and office in the back garden. Unfortunately the hemp/lime idea has had to be discarded because we decided we couldn't afford the time to be guinea pigs.

It's still going to be sustainable, but simpler and cheaper: sophisticated sheds without foundations.

Architect in the House

I am currently involved in a scheme organised jointly by the RIBA, whereby architects give an hour of their time in return for a donation to Shelter. I have signed up to see about a dozen people, but since I’m under pressure to produce two sets of working drawings in about a month, I’m wondering what I’ve let myself in for.

We’re going to be moving house and office and I’ve started designing my wife’s new studio, which is going to be arched hemp and lime construction. I’m working out the geometry using hanging chains, and when it’s sorted out I’ll be posting some photos.

If you know anyone who is thinking of building anything, you could ask them if they’re interested in saving money and saving the world, and tell them about Ecologgia.
